Mary: Connecting with Peers

Having the social aspect of things was wonderful because it allowed me to be held accountable directly by my peers– for like a problem that you needed to solve. And there was like a consequence, that if you didn’t solve it, it was a bit embarrassing. And it was good for me, in terms of having a social outlet and having someone to joke about the struggle and to come up with silly mnemonic devices.

And then as a whole, it was wonderful because we were in it together. There was a light at the end of the tunnel. And we needed to, you know, sort of work together to help each other get there. And there was no competitive aspect like– my success didn’t make someone else not succeed. And that was wonderful.
