PAIGE: When approaching a problem, for instance, one of your problem set, it can at times be really helpful to try and think 10 steps ahead. What are the steps I will need to take to solve this problem can be really helpful in terms of framing how you think about it. But when you encounter a problem that you’re struggling with, whether that be with mental health or connecting with the right resources, this can feel very overwhelming even though it was helpful in the previous case.

So one thing that I found really helpful at MIT to just get started with going along that path to starting those first of 10 steps down the road is just talking to someone, talking to someone who knows what this process looks like to get access to the resources that you need. So I really struggled with mental health, for example. And talking to my therapist and saying I’m struggling with this issue, how do I approach this problem, made it a lot easier to get the results that I needed to.
