EMILY: I’m a very social person. So when I hang out with people or I hang out with family, it’s like recharging for me in a way. And I mean, people say this is bad, but if you hang out with other people, you’re not thinking about your own problems, which, I mean, obviously, you’ll have to deal with them later. But sometimes you just need that sort of like to carry you over into the next day. And I think that can be really helpful.
I’ve had so many days where I just like feel really bad when I wake up. And then I go, and I spend time with people I like genuinely enjoy the company of and that makes me feel so much better towards the end of the day. Obviously, not everyone is built socially like me, but I think if you don’t draw your energy from people, it’s also important to take time for yourself.
So sometimes I’ll just sit in my room in the dark or with my LED lights on, and I’ll just like decompress. And I think that’s also really important, knowing when to do that and then when to interact with people based on how you find your energy.
