TERESA: If we think about the opposite of what awareness is, that I’m definitely guilty a lot of. And I feel like that was maybe a huge contributor to the fact that I was just not getting better over the course of what I describe in my story, just talking about it. But I feel like awareness is really important not only to notice that things are going wrong but also to recognize what those things might mean.
And I think it’s difficult already just to notice when things are happening or when something’s not quite right. And it’s harder beyond that to look at that and say, what is that trying to tell me, or what might this mean when I see this symptom or I see myself making the same kind of mistake over and over again?
So I think that’s something that I’ve definitely gotten a lot better about is just seeing those things and also recognizing that those things are important, that I should pay attention to them.
