Overcoming a Failed Research Project

An “ocean kid” and an explorer, Evan came to graduate school to do ocean exploration. Excited for the rare opportunity to deploy a camera from a NOAA research vessel in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, Evan is devastated when he is told that he cannot because he has not prepared adequately. After reflecting on his failure with self-compassion, Evan realizes that he works best when he works with other people and seeks their feedback.

I realized that if I want to do big important projects that not only are fun for me but are important to the world, I cannot do them by myself.
