A lot of times where I get a bad grade, or I’ll get rejected from an internship, I’m not discouraged by that failure. If I want something, if I really, really want it, it’s not going to stop me.

Working on Class Performance

Jeba, a low-income student, felt as if she was on top of the world when she was admitted to MIT. After her first exams on campus, she realized that her test scores were much lower than her peers. Talking with her mom and learning more about the challenges her own family overcame allowed Jeba to find strength within herself instead of looking outside and comparing herself to others. Jeba now tries to stay attuned to concepts that she does not understand in lecture and does not hesitate to ask her TAs for help.
